COFFEE & JESUS

“There is no one righteous, not even one…Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.”
(Romans 3:10,20)

For much of our lives we may have been told that righteousness is earned. That if you do the right things, treat people well and live a good life then you are a righteous person.

Many of the world’s religions work in such a way that you have to earn your righteousness and salvation. You are forced to climb the figurative ladder in order to reach hope, meaning or purpose.

However, the Bible tells us that no one (meaning… No. One.) is righteous but that through the law we become conscious of our UNrighteousness. So how are we supposed to earn God’s favor?

From Day One of our lives, we have been separated from God and a relationship with Him because of sin. Sin is not something that we learn over time but is something that we are born into. Think about it, you don’t have to teach a child to be sinful. (And all the parents said, Amen.)

So if the law reveals our unrighteousness and inability to obtain the level of righteousness needed then what do we do?! Well I am glad that you asked!

“But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe.” (Romans 3:21-22)

You see, God knew that we could never achieve the righteousness needed in order to reconcile our relationship with Him. Therefore He made a Way for us through His Son and our Savior, Jesus Christ.

“Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” (John 14:6)

It has never been about how much you can do, but is about how much Jesus has done for you.
