GOD GIVES GOOD GIFTS
Day 3
“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights…”
James 1:17
Well obviously when we think of Christmas, presents and gifts are somethings that come to mind. Giving and receiving gifts are part of the joy of Christmas.
Finding the perfect gift for someone is not always an easy task. It is not always about spending the most amount of money on something, but rather about the meaning of the gift. The price tag on the gift is not what makes it special. There are times when the smallest price tag can still bring the most joy to a person.
James, the brother of Jesus, writes this verse, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father…” James has an incredible perspective of this, right? He was able to grow up and live with the greatest gift of all, Jesus!
When James is writing this, it is when he is talking about going through trials and temptations. He writes in verse 5, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” You see, God is not stingy about giving the gifts that we need and the things that will help us in our times of need.
But there is more to it as James writes in verse 6, “But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.” This is not always an easy task because there are the times when believing is easier said than done. Those are the moments when we need faith more than ever.
What I pray that we all understand is that there is no greater gift-giver than God. He wants to provide you with all that you need and even more! He has already provided the greatest gift of all through his Son and our Savior, Jesus!
