LET IT SHINE
Last week during our weekly Thursday Night Bible Study, as Tyler was teaching, the Spirit was stirring inside of me one question… “What are you doing?”
This question wasn’t just for that moment but rather what am I doing to share the hope of this world with others? Am I truly being the light that Christ calls us to be as followers of Him in Matthew 5:14, “You are the light of the world.”
It is so easy for us to become complacent and just be “okay” with where we are in life. This doesn’t make us bad people, but is complacency really what Jesus calls us to? No.
Being the light of the world is not about keeping that light to ourselves, but rather it is sharing that light with those around us. Jesus continued telling those around Him, “A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.” (Matthew 5:14b-15)
See? Keeping the light to ourselves is not what we are called to do. It is actually the opposite. Sharing the light with other people is part of our calling.
So, are you letting your light shine?
