RECKLESS LOVE

Do yourself a favor and take just a second to read and truly consider these lyrics.

Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God
Oh, it chases me down, fights ’til I’m found, leaves the ninety-nine
I couldn’t earn it, and I don’t deserve it, still, You give Yourself away
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God

Can you fathom the love that God has for you? Does it overwhelm you and move you when you realize His never-ending and unceasing love for you?

I love the verse that says, “it chases me down, fights ’til I’m found, leaves the ninety-nine”. God’s love did not wait for me to recognize it’s beauty and majesty but rather chased me down to make sure that I could not miss it! The love of God does not wait for us to find it but rather fights until we are found in Christ who is the culmination of God’s love for you and for me.

My favorite part is the next line, “leaves the ninety-nine”. If you have ever read or heard someone speak of the parable (Matthew 18:10-14) that Jesus tells about the shepherd who leaves the ninety-nine sheep in order to go find and rescue the one lost sheep, that is where this comes from. It demonstrates and reflects the love that God has for His children. God is passionate about each and every one of His children and desperately wants us all to be with Him. He is not satisfied leaving the lost as they are.

The love of God is unequaled and unparalleled. The love that was displayed through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and His relentless, never-ending pursuit of us all.

Even when we did not deserve it, He still gave Himself for us so that we may have life through faith in Him! “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8) You see, God did not wait for us to be “good enough” but rather sent Jesus so that we may understand that He is truly enough and all that we would ever need.
