“But you know the he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin.”

1 John 3:5

Well, John nailed it in this verse. Not much else to explain.

This is why we truly have something to celebrate at Christmas time! The decorations are beautiful, the exchanging of gifts is great, the time with family is wonderful, but Jesus is the reason to celebrate Christmas!

If you ever wonder “what Christmas is all about” or what the “true meaning” of Christmas is, John sums it up very well. You see, Jesus did not come to punish us for our sins, but rather to take away our sins! How awesome is that?!

John writes in John 3:17, “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” This is what we should be celebrating at Christmas (and every day of the year) — the birth of our Savior!

My prayer for you is that this Christmas, you understand a little better what Christmas is really about. I pray that you realize Christmas is truly about the love that came down from Heaven and his name is Jesus.
